Learning Objectives
- Understanding geological processes and their relation with the geodynamic contexts;
- Understanding the primary and the deformed geometries of rock bodies;
- Understanding criteria and methods in reconstructing 2D and 3D stratigraphic and structural data;
- Basic Knowledge of regional geology;
- Competence in using and interpreting geological maps;
Ability in constructing 2D geometries by using surface and subsurface data and drawing geological cross-sections.
Detailed Course Content
Topic 1: criteria and methods for reconstructing the 3D geometries of rock bodies; ability in costructing basic geological cross-sections
Topic 2: study and analysis of the sedimentary process and of the sedimentary rocks; ability and competence in recognizing and classifying sedimentary rocks
Topic 3: competence in interpreting the paleogeographic and paleotectonic significance of stratigraphic successions
Topic 4: competence in recognising and descibing tectonic structures; ability in constructing geological sections reproducing complex contexts.
