Use of lapideous materials in the past and in modern industry
Stone materials in current and historical buildings: employment criteria; methods of extraction and / or cultivation of stone materials.
Alteration, degradation and durability of stone materials
Artificial lapideous materials: archaeological pottery and industrial ceramics. Raw material; the production process; classification and functionality of ceramic products. Archaeometric problems in the study of pottery of archaeological interest. Case studies.
Artificial lapideous materials: Mortars, plasters and wall paints (binders, aggregates and pigments). Classification and petrographic characterization in thin section. Case studies.
