Federica Sparacino, born in Milano (Italy) in 1990, is research fellow at the National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology of Catania and doctoral student at the University of Catania. She took her MSc in Geological Sciences at University of Milano, Italy, on April 20th, 2016, scoring 110 over 110, cum laude.

She has been team-member of 5 research projects financed by national and international institutions. She is co-author of 9 publication on GJI journal and has presented 20 contributes in national and international conferences. She has received Geophysical Award (Geodynamical theme): “Licio Cernobori 2019”. Acts of 38° meeting of Gruppo Nazionale di Geofisica della Terra Solida (GNGTS), Roma, 12-14th November 2019.

I'm focusing in geodetic deformation versus seismic crustal moment-rates. I started studying subsidence processes using spatial geodesy techniques (GNSS) in areas subjected to exploitation of georesources (oils, gas and water), and changes in the state of stress and strain of areas subjected to exploitation of georesources in relation to production data and local seismic release. Part of my research activity is focusing on tectonic processes responsible for the stress and strain state of the lithosphere. This research is conducted through the combined use of numerous survey techniques with particular reference to geodesy and seismology. I started studying also "slow slip events" observed geodetically on the eastern flank of the Etna volcano and physical-mechanical processes related to their nucleation.
