The research activities are principally focused on  thermal characterization of the subsurface to result geothermal models aimed at development of novel solutions allowing the optimization of the heat exchange in the subsoil. In particular: analysis of geophysical and geochemical prospections for geothermal studies; physical, chemical, textural and structural characterization of the most suitable sites for exploitation of geothermal resources (petrological and petrophysical characterization of lithologies, geochemistry of geothermal fluids); evaluation of the exploitation potential of geothermal resources, development of innovative solutions on heat exchange components for low enthalpy geothernal systems.

The PhD program helds within the framework of the “National Operative Program for Research and Innovation 2014-2020 (PON RI): Innovative doctorates with industrial characterization" in cooperation with German Research Center for Geoscience of Potsdam (GFZ) and Eartherm s.r.l (Spin-off UniCT).
