Donatella Serio
Researcher, BIO/03 Environmental and Applied Botany, scientific manager of Laboratory of Phycology of the Department of Biological, Geological and Environmental Sciences of the University of Catania. Her research deals with marine benthic flora and vegetation. The floristic and vegetational searches aimed at taking into consideration areas previously studied in order to estimate changes of biodiversity at both short and long terms. As well they dealt protected marine areas also with the aim to estimate the possible effects on the biodiversity linked to protection measures. In parallel with the above-mentioned researches, she is carrying out studies aiming at clarifying the taxonomy of some genera of macroalgae, with particular attention to the problems relating to the species of the Laurencia complex, Polysiphonia and Ceramium.
