The PhD project, entitled “Consequences of Climate Change on High-Mountain Vegetation”, focused on assessing the impact of global warming on the flora and vegetation of Mount Etna’s high-altitude ecosystems. Research activities included vegetation resampling, floristic and phytosociological analysis, mapping of plant communities using GIS techniques, and metabolomic analysis on selected woody species to evaluate their physiological responses to climate change.
Throughout the project, I developed skills in:
-
statistical analysis of floristic and vegetation data;
-
geobotanical surveys and thematic cartography;
-
use of GIS software (QGIS, ArcGIS);
-
collection, processing, and metabolomic analysis of plant material.
