GEOLOGIA STRATIGRAFICA CON LABORATORIO 1
Module LABORATORIO DI GEOLOGIA STRATIGRAFICA
Academic Year 2023/2024 - Teacher:
SALVATORE DISTEFANO
Expected Learning Outcomes
The course aims to enable students to acquire the fundamental principles of Stratigraphy, with particular reference to the stratigraphic logs, "age models" and reconstruction of the geological history with relative chronology of the events of an outcrop.
Required Prerequisites
• Having acquired the concepts of the Physical Geology Course;
• Be familiar with reading topographic maps and know how to carry out a topographic profile
Attendance of Lessons
Mandatory attendance.
Detailed Course Content
- know how to reconstruct the geological history of an area, defining the relative chronology for sedimentary events and tectonic phases;
- know how to reconstruct stratigraphic columns from schematic geological profiles and perform stratigraphic correlations;
- know how to create an "age-depht" diagram, having understood the meaning of "sedimentation rate", "sedimentary gap" and "temporal hiatus".
Textbook Information
1. Handouts provided by the teacher during the Course or inserted in the Studium platform.
