The Marine Phytoecology module aims to learn about the characterisation of the marine environment and to understand the main morphological and reproductive adaptations of phytobenthic organisms (macroalgae and phanerogams) to the main environmental conditions: hydrodynamics, light, salinity, temperature, etc.

Lectures and exercises in laboratory.

Detailed Course Content
General information on the marine environment: the ocean floor; water and its properties; comparison between land and sea. Zoning of the oceans. Water movements: currents, waves and tides
Main ecological factors that condition plant organisms *: light; salinity; temperature; substrate type, nutrients. Adaptations * of plant organisms to light, to salinity, to substrate temperature.
