BIOLOGIA CELLULARE E PATOLOGIA
Module PATOLOGIA

Academic Year 2025/2026 - Teacher: SAVERIO CANDIDO

Expected Learning Outcomes

D1 – Knowledge and understanding

The student knows the main pathological processes underlying human diseases, especially molecular and cellular mechanisms. He understands disease etiology, pathogenetic mechanisms, and host responses. Student knowledge also includes cell adaptation and death, inflammation, immunity, immunopathogenesis, and oncogenesis.

D2 – Applied knowledge and understanding

The student is able to apply acquired knowledge to identify the pathogenetic processes leading to anatomical and functional alterations of cells, tissues, organs, and systems, which characterize human diseases.

D3 – Critical thinking

The student is able to integrate acquired knowledge to critically analyze pathological processes. The student can evaluate disease mechanisms and understand the interaction between etiological triggers and host responses, demonstrating critical thinking in the analysis of pathological phenomena.

D4 – Communication skills

The student is able to use an appropriate scientific language related to general pathology and accurately describe etiology, pathogenesis, and morpho-functional alterations of tissues and organs. Effective communication with faculty members and healthcare professionals is demonstrated.

D5 – Learning skills

The student develops an independent and critical approach to learning, enabling in-depth study of pathological mechanisms through textbooks and scientific literature. The student is able to further develop knowledge within biomedical sciences.

Course Structure

The teaching will be carried out through the provision of classroom teaching lessons.

Should teaching be carried out in mixed mode or remotely, it may be necessary to introduce changes with respect to previous statements, in line with the programme planned and outlined in the syllabus.
