MARINE BIOLOGY

The main objective of the course is to provide students with the basic knowledge of marine biology from both an abiotic and a more strictly biological perspective.
Course Structure
Frontal lessons and laboratory practises. Field laboratory activities are foreseen

Detailed Course Content
The seas and oceans; chemical-physical characteristics of the sea ecosystem; light and its role; water movements (currents, waves, tides, seiches); marine biodiversity (plankton, benthos, necton); the main marine and transitional habitats and ecosystems.
