To know the main functions of Cormophytes; identify the close relationship between structure and function and highlight the adaptations to environmental characteristics.
Course Structure
The course (6 CFU) will be carried out through lectures supported by power point presentations.
Required Prerequisites
Knowledge of cytology, histology, and plant anatomy; physics and organic chemistry

Attendance is strongly recommended
Detailed Course Content
- Membrane physiology
- Root absorption of water and mineral nutrient.
- Water conduction transport from root to leaf.
- Transpiration and guttation.
- Oxidative respiration: Glycolysis, Krebs cycle.
- PHOTOSYNTHESIS - Light-dependent reactions: the photosynthetic pigments, the photosystems, energy conversion to the stable chemical forms. Light-independent reactions: Calvin cycle. Influence of the environment on photosynthesis. Photorespiration. C4 and CAM photosynthesis.
- Nitrogen assimilation and biological nitrogen fixation.
- Translocation of photoassimilates.
- HORMONES.
- Tropisms movements: phototropism and gravitropism.
- PHYSIOLOGY OF FLOWERING.
