New Programme Highlights 2027

The Language Teaching Institute (SLI) at the Faculty of Philology, University of Freiburg, is pleased to present its course programme for 2027. The courses are designed for university, school, and higher education staff worldwide and offer a valuable opportunity for linguistic and professional development as well as international exchange.

Our programmes consist of 20 hours per week and include the following strands:

1. German Language Courses (A1–C1)
Practice-oriented language courses with a strong focus on communication in academic and administrative contexts.
– Training for German Language Educators

2. Thematic Staff Training Courses (in English)
Current cross-cutting topics in higher education development and transformation, including:
– AI Literacy in Higher Education: critical, reflective, and responsible use of artificial intelligence in administration, teaching, and research
– Sustainability and Digital Transformation in Higher Education: sustainable and future-oriented campus and organisational development in the digital age
– Prompt to Practice: Hands-on AI and Social Media for University Staff
– Cycling for Sustainable Cities
– Resilience in Professional Life
– Theatre Techniques for Effective Interaction

The courses take place in a supportive learning environment in the historic city centre of Freiburg. The beautiful Old Town campus and Freiburg’s unique location also offer excellent opportunities for excursions within the tri-border region – including the Black Forest, Basel, Zurich, Strasbourg, and even Paris or Milan.
