Born in Catania on January 15th , 1963

Education and University Career:
1981 – 1986 : Degree in Geological Sciences at the Catania University.
1987 – 1988 : Research contract at the Calabria-Cosenza University.
1988 – 1992 : PhD in Tectonics and Structural Geology at the Camerino University.
1992 : C.N.R.  grant  in “Stratigraphic Geology” at  the Catania University.
1992 : Researcher of Geology at the Catania University.
1995 : Visiting researcher at the “Laboratoire de Tectonique de l’Institut de Physique du Globe” of the P.M. Curie University of Paris.
1996 – 1997 : C.N.R. N.A.T.O. Senior grants at the “Laboratoire de Tectonique de l’Institut de Physique du Globe” of the P.M. Curie University of Paris.
1998 : Associate Professor of Structural Geology at the Catania University.
2002 : Full Professor of Structural Geology at the Catania University.
2003-2012 : Coordinator of the PhD Course of  “Geodynamics and Seismotectonics” (Catania University).
2009-2011 : Member of the Board of AIQUA – Associazione Italiana per lo Studio del Quaternario.

Regional tectonics and field analysis of tectonic structures, Geodynamics, Active tectonics, Coastal tectonics, Geology of urban areas, Geoarchaeology.

Scientific Coordinator  and Responsible of  Catania University Research Unit for the Research Program PRIN 2010-11 “Active and recent geodynamics of Calabrian Arc and  accretionary complex in the Ionian Sea”, funded by M.I.U.R. (other RU: Messina University, Resp. Barbara Orecchio; Parma University, Resp. Luigi Torelli; Roma 3 University, Resp. Claudio Faccenna; CNR-ISMAR Bologna, Resp. Alina Polonia).
Responsible of the Research Unit Task 2 – WP 8 “Strutture del substrato sedimentario (Etna)” , funded by Dipartimento Protezione Civile-INGV 2012 – PROGETTO V3.
